A machine for spreading fertiliser in the form of powder has a tube (1) which encloses a screw conveyor. The tube (1) has a row of holes each hole fitted with a nozzle (2). The fertiliser is driven out through the nozzles (2) by the action of the conveyor. Each nozzle (2) is fitted with a short length of small diameter tube (5) which is provided with a lug by which it is pivoted to a lug welded to the main tube (1). These short tubes (5) can be swung away from their respective nozzles by rotating the main tube (1) through an angle of about 45 deg. about its longitudinal axis. USE/ADVANTAGE - The short tubes protect the machine from the wind whilst spraying the fertiliser.
