The hospital bed has a height-adjustable, pivotable bed frame (2) which is mounted on a movable subframe (1) and whose adjusting movements take place via lifting rams (3) mounted on the subframe (1) and carrying the bed frame (2), with lifting pipes (5, 6) that can be telescopically moved towards and away from one another by a drive (4). The drive (4) is located underneath the bed frame (2) and movably coupled by the upper end to a singly or multiply threaded spindle (8) twistable in a stationary nut (7), and is connected to the spindle and to the inner lifting pipe (5) so as to be adjustable in height. <IMAGE>
