The novel dictating device is intended on the one hand to enable a suitable connection to a different communication device and on the other hand to increase the readiness for use of the dictating device. The new dictating device is coupled or combined with a telephone and, if necessary, an answering machine. The telephone handset with its talk/listen device can thereby perform the function of the remote speech and control unit of the dictating device as well as its normal function as a communication means, control keys being disposed on the telephone handset to operate the dictating machine. Combination of a telephone and dictating device or a telephone, answering machine and dictating device.
