The plasma burner according to the invention ensures that the heat from its plasma arc is distributed well, and is therefore particularly suitable for heating and melting materials. This is achieved by the plasma arc of the burner being movable in three dimensions by means of electrical or magnetic field forces, either by means of a plurality of opposing electrodes or by means of suitably arranged electromagnets.
