PURPOSE:To obtain a deodorant excellent in capacity for catching an ion compound, by containing hydroxide or hydrous oxide of at least one kind of a metal selected from zirconium and lanthanide elements as an effective component. CONSTITUTION:Hydroxide or hydrous oxide of a metal being the effective component of a deodorant may be a single or composite compound of a metal selected from zirconium and lanthanide elements such as lanthan or cerium. Especially, a misch metal containing lanthanide metal elements in a mixed state is also used. A powder of the obtained hydroxide or hydrous oxide of a metal can be used in a state packed in a container as it is or after said powder is molded into a pellet form by tabletting but, in molding, an appropriate binder may be used. Further, said powder may be mixed with a plastic binder to be molded into an appropriate shape, for example, a film like or fibrous form. Further, said powder can be mixed with pulp to be formed into paper having deodorizing capacity by a papermaking process or compounded with various binders or solvents to be used in a form of printing ink, paint or an adhesive. |
