A support structure for an aircraft or other vehicle seat for two persons comprises an upper crossbar 18, having integral side arms 20, 22 and connected by load-bearing pillars 14, 16, ties 72, 74 and struts 26 to a front cross-beam 12 secured to rails 10 on the floor of the vehicle, and a bifurcated lever 28, rigidly secured to the pillars 14, 16 and, by a central leg 32, to a foot 34 also secured to the rails, so that spaces, provided at each side of the central leg and giving leg room for passengers in the seat next behind, are open at the sides of the structure and are unimpeded by projections from the floor of the vehicle. A tie 36, or a number of such ties, join the foot 34 to the front cross-beam 12, and the upper ends of the struts 24, 26 and the junction 30 of the lever 28, provide connections for pivoted back-rest members and seat belt anchorages. A webbing support 70, for upholstery cushions, is supported at a level above the beam 12 by bars 60, 62, 68. In a modification, to accommodate three persons, two legs 32 intermediate the sides of support structure are provided. |
