摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of a catalyst due to the excessive feed of the unburnt fuel to a catalyst combustor and prevent the adverse effect on the life of the catalyst combustor by controlling the anode exhaust gas quantity fed to the catalyst combustor in response to the load fluctuation of a plant. CONSTITUTION:A fuel feed quantity detector 15 is provided on a fuel feed line, an air feed quantity detector 16 is provided on an air feed line. A branch line 13 with a bypass valve 12 is provided in the middle of an anode exhaust gas line feeding the anode exhaust gas exhausted from an anode 3 to the cathode side via a catalyst combustor 7, opening or closing signals are sent to the bypass valve 12 based on signals from the detectors and the electric output signal of a fuel cell 1. When an output fluctuation occurs during the plant operation, the fuel feed quantity detection signal from the fuel feed quantity detector 15 and the air feed quantity detection signal from the air feed quantity detector 16 are calculated to open or close the bypass valve, the quantity of the anode exhaust gas is controlled. The excessive feed of the anode exhaust gas to the catalyst combustor 7 is thereby prevented. The catalyst combustor can be protected and applied with no adverse effect.
