For reclaiming essentially metal-free plastics from waste materials which for the most part contain the combination plastic/metal, the waste materials are reduced to clippings and these clippings are ground into a free-flowing mixture of plastic fibres and metal balls. Subsequently, fibres and balls are separated from each other in an air stream.
