The invention relates to a method for preparing an appliance connecting line (11) whose core (13) is provided with a screen (14) which is separated by means of disc-shaped welding electrodes (21, 22, 23) while the line is prepared. Before the separation a length of plastic pipe (15) is inserted between core (13) and screen (14) in the region of the separation point, which length of plastic pipe becomes soft like a dough during welding, individual ends (18) of the screen elements possibly being pressed into the plastic so that, on the one hand, occurring stray screen elements, which lead to short circuits, are avoided during the separation and, on the other hand, a fixed position of the length of plastic pipe (15) is achieved in the region of the separation point. <IMAGE>
