In a drum brake designed preferably for use on a heavy vehicle, each brake segment (12) is supported on an anchoring block (24) through two intermediate pieces (32, 36). The first piece (32) is a cylindrical piece placed in a complementary housing (30) formed in the anchoring block. The second piece (36) has a cylindrical surface (36a) bearing against the outer surface of the first piece (32) and a flat surface (36b) which cooperates with a flat surface (14a) formed at the end of the core (14) of the segment. A plate (40) attached to the block (24) holds the pieces (32, 36) in place. <IMAGE>
