PURPOSE:To measure even the whole characteristics of a long range optical fiber to be measured taking a wide dynamic range with good linearity and S/N, by providing a light input part, an A/D converter, a control part and a data processing part. CONSTITUTION:The light signal outputted from an optical fiber to be measured is converted to an electric signal and amplified to be further converted to a digital signal by an A/D converter 60. This digital signal is compared with a preliminarily indicated level range by a control part 70. The control part 70 further controls the output level of the light input part 50 on the basis of the comparing result to store the digital signal entering the level range indicated every time and the control quantity when the light input part 50 is controlled in a data processing part 80 and further outputs the characteristics of the optical fiber to be measured on the basis of the stored data. By this method, the whole characteristics even of the optical fiber to be measured having a long distance possessing a wide dynamic range can be measured with good linearity and S/N. |
