PURPOSE:To enable accurate and highly efficient manufacture of a reference test object having a defect thereinside with a shape, dimensions and like thereof determined, by artificially forming a weld defect in a member to be welded. CONSTITUTION:A natural defect as object is formed in a bead 2 of a member 1 to be welded by an arc welding or the like. In this case, a blow hole is formed by performing a clad arc welding using a weld rod with moisture absorbed. Then, the member 1 being welded is scraped off to a proper width and thickness to make a body 3 containing a defect. As for the body 3 containing a defect, the width and thickness are set properly considering a measuring accuracy of radiation transmission test (RT) or the like continually conducted. After dimensions and a shape of the defect existing in the body 3 containing a defect are determined by the RT or the like sufficiently, a reference test object 4 is made utilizing the body 3 containing a defect. Then, the reference test object containing a defect with the shape, dimensions and the like thereof determined can be manufactured accurately and at a high efficiency. |
