<p>Semi-circular spacers are keyed together at intervals along a pipeline to support a concentric jacket having openings through which a foam forming (polyurethane) mix may subsequently be introduced to insulate the pipeline. Pref. the sheat is fabricated from sections which mate with stepped or grooved faces sealed pref. with bituminous materials or artificial seal strips. The holes through which the foam was introduced are subsequently plugged. For construction, in situ of insulation protected by a permanent jacket without thermal bridges between the pipe and the jacket. Describes use of spacers comprising polystyrene sandwiched between arches of foam polyurethane and located with polystyrene keys to the support jacket components of rigid plastic (polyurethane) fibrocement or similar.</p> |
