PURPOSE:To simplify the diagnosis of abnormality by a method wherein the vibration of a gear device is detected as an electric signal by providing a vibration pickup outside the gear device, the signal is subjected to an arithmetic processing to find a value comprising a peak value and a root-mean-square value of the signal, this value is determined as a measure of the diagnosis of abnormality, and the result of determination is displayed. CONSTITUTION:A vibration pickup 4 is fitted to an outer box 2 of a gear device. The vibration of the gear device is transformed thereby into an electric signal, this signal is amplified by an amplifier 6, and an output waveform thereof is inputted to a root-mean-square value calculating circuit 8 and a peak value calculating circuit 10. Next, a root-mean-square value and a peak value obtained thereby being used, a value Z showing the ratio between an RMS value, a square root value, and a PEAK value, a peak value, is found. In other words, the value Z expressed by Z={(PEAK value/RMS value)-K}<2> with K used as a constant is calculated by an arithmetic circuit 12. Then, a comparison is made by a comparator circuit 14, and a lamp 18 is lighted when the value Z is a value of normality being less than 1.0, a lamp 20 being lighted when the value is of caution being 1.0-4.0, and a lamp 22 being lighted when the value is of abnormality being 4.0 or more. By this constitution, the title apparatus is made applicable to different types of gear devices. |
