PURPOSE:To obtain a recording material which can be favorably used in an ink jet recording method, is excellent particularly in ink absorptivity, light resistance in outdoor use, bleeding-preventive properties at high humidity or the like and gives a water resistant recorded image, by incorporating a cation- modified cellulose in an ink-receiving layer. CONSTITUTION:This recording material comprises a cation-modified cellulose in an ink-receiving layer provided on a base. The cation modified cellulose can be obtained by cation modification of a cellulose or a derivative thereof. A preferable example of the cellulose which can be used is hydroxyethy cellulose obtained by addition of ethylene oxide to cellulose. In forming the ink-receiving layer, it is preferable to set the content of a basic compound in the layer to be not more than 0.5wt.%. In a preferred embodiment, it is preferable to crosslink the ink-receiving layer by a crosslinking agent to enhance the water resistance of the layer itself, and an ink transport layer is provided on the ink receiving layer. |
