PURPOSE:To form a good image regardless of environment by providing a developing device with a means for impressing an electric field on toner over the sleeve of the developing device prior to a developing process. CONSTITUTION:The developing device is provided with the means to impress the electric field on the toner over the sleeve. When the toner over the sleeve 1 is impressed with the electric field prior to the developing process, the electrified toner moves within a toner layer 5, being applied force by the electric field. This movement of the toner agitates the toner layer 5 and increases contact between toner particles or the toner and a friction member whereby the triboelectrification of the toner is promoted. Satisfactory developing can be thereby carried out to form a stabilized image even at a high degree of temperature or humidity. |
