PURPOSE:To convert original image data of a flat effect of a photograph, etc., to aesthetic image data of a picture touch by replacing image data of a partial area with image data derived from the original image data in its area and each prescribed gradation data. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 1 inputs original image data through an image data I/O 26 and stores it in image memories 14-16. An edge detecting part 4 executes an extraction of an edge part, based on the original image data of the image memories 14-16. Based on a result of detection as to whether this edge exists or not, a brush pattern selecting part 8 selects small multivalued brush pattern data stored in advance in a ROM or large multivalued brush pattern data in a brush pattern rotating part 9, and a picture drawing part 10 brings this brush pattern data to picture drawing. An image synthesizing part 12 synthesizes further a texture image against the image data. |
