<p>NEW MATERIAL:The neplanocin A derivative (salt) of formula (R is -NH2 or -N3). EXAMPLE:2',3'-O-Isopropylidene-6'-azido-6'-deoxyneplanocin A. USE:It has the activity to suppress the growth of L5178Y cell, and is useful as a carcinostatic agent. PROCESS:The compound of formula can be prepared, e.g. by brominating the neplanocin A (which may be protected at the 2' or 3'-hydroxyl group) with carbon tetrabromide in an organic solvent such as dimethylformamide in the presence of triphenylphosphine, reacting the reaction liquid with lithium azide, and if necessary, eliminating the protecting group from the 2'- and 3'-O-atom.</p> |
