<p>The system has a wheel support plate which rests on four glide pieces. The glide pieces are metal blocks with a layer of Teflon (RTM) mounted on bolts which protrude from the stationary frame plate. A metal "strap" assembly between te support plate and the frame plate limits the total movement of the support plate. A lever, pivoted (16) on the frame plate (3) and operated by a the piston (15) of a pneumatic cylinder (19), can push the support plate forward and back, while another piston operates via two levers to move the support plate sideways. The pressure feedback from the pneumatic cylinders indicates the amount of play. Two such systems can be used simultaneously to test a vehicle.</p> |
