Cosmetic powder is compacted at ambient temp. by placing it in a vessel with a die at its base formed with apertures distributed so that no point on the die is further than 5 mm from an aperture, resting the die on a flat surface, and compressing the powder in the vessel with a piston slightly smaller than the inner edge of the die. A die is also claimed. USE/ADVANTAGE - For powder compacts. Air is expelled, so that the compact is not fragile.
