The invention relates to an earthing or protective conductor current collector for industrial cranes which can be conducted via a busbar and has a wiper preferably consisting of carbon or bronze. In order to avoid direct inspection of the current collector, it is proposed that, at a distance from the fitting-on plane (2) of the underside of the collector slipper, which distance is determined by the maximum tolerable degree of wear caused by friction, an electrically conductive sensor (3) which is insulated from the collector slipper (1) be embedded on the bus bar, which sensor (3) is connected by a cable to an optical and/or acoustic display device. <IMAGE>
