Splash guard for a machine tool

The invention essentially relates to machine tools and serves to protect the machine surroundings from process scrap which could emerge from the working space of the machine. The space requirement for taking away the splash-guard elements is to be reduced and their manipulation is to be simplified. To this end, the splash-guard element is pivotable about an axis and if need be is movable along this axis, which passes through the splash-guard element perpendicularly to its splash-guard plane outside the centre of gravity of its area. An advantageous embodiment provides for the arrangement of this axis in a bottom corner of the splash-guard element and has a catch mechanism on the axis so that the splash-guard element can catch in the pivoting direction and/or in the axial direction. <IMAGE>
