A survival suit for a contaminated atmosphere is of gastight fabric and has an opening allowing the suit to be entered, a seal for the opening, a blower drawing air in and supplying the suit with purified air, a motor and a power source for the blower, and a filter for the air drawn in. The blower, filter, and associated equipment are pref. housed in a casing fixed to the suit. The casing pref. also contains air conditioning equipment. USE/ADVANTAGE - For protecting civilians from nuclear accidents. The suit is easy to use.
