The toothpick, consists of a flexible blade (1) e.g. of metal or plastics, which can be slid into or out of a sheath (2) by a notched projection (3) on one side of the blade engaging with a slot (4) along one side of the sheath. The tip of the blade is between 0.04 and 0.35 mm thick; the blade can be in a variety of shapes, e.g. with a pointed or flat end, and one edge can be serrated. The rear end of the blade, carrying the projection (3), is some 0.8 mm thick. The toothpick can be sold and kept in a sealed container for hygienic purposes. ADVANTAGE - Improved dental hygiene.
