A steam generator, which is used for humidifying air, consists of a boiler (1) with an outlet pipe (2) for the steam. The boiler is emptied, when cleaning is necessary, by means of an internal vertical pipe connected by a horizontal pipe (8) to a jet pump (20). The jet pump is supplied with high pressure water from a valve (11). The valve is connected to the water supply pipe (13) which also supplies the water from which the steam is produced.
