This invention refers to a procedure for sealing an end piece of a rotary body in a silo and a sealing system used in the procedure.There are two previously known types of seals, of which the simplest consists of arranging a sufficiently small column between the rotating parts. However, for practical reasons it is not possible to make the column very small, and this solution is therefore suitable only for 'knot silos', in which knots and similar sized particles are separated from the pulp. Another alternative seal is the labyrinth type, which can easily break down or can also break down the whole installation if, for instance, knots come in between the sealed surfaces.It is characteristic of the procedure according to the invention for a force field to be generated between the sealed surfaces of the rotary body and its opposite surface, this force field preventing leakage between the said surfaces from the side of the silo that has higher pressure that the opposite side. On its part, it is characteristic for the used sealing system to have the rotating body sealed to at least one end surface (13) against the level surface (10) of the silo's casing or end piece by arranging bodies (14) in at least one of the named surfaces (13, 10), which cause a power component / pressure component aimed at the leakage flow, the component stopping the effect of the pressure that causes the leakage flow.<IMAGE>
