The cylindrical structure (1) for a long nip press to which belongs a shell cylinder (7) rotating around its axel, and around that a cylindrical jacket (8) made of an elastic material. To bring about a sufficiently long and effective clamp zone for the press power, two load cylinders (9, 10) have been arranged between the jacket (8) and the shell cylinder (7) on the side of the shell cylinder (7) turned towards the clamp zone and on either side of the clamp zone. The surface of the load cylinders (9, 10) lies against the outer surface of the shell cylinder (7) and the inner surface of the jacket, whereby the shell cylinder's (7) load via the load cylinders (9, 10) is transferred to the jacket (8) and the clamp zone. In order to start the jacket (8) rotating, the shell cylinder (7) rotates in the opposite direction, whereupon the friction between the cylinders' (7, 9, 10) and the jacket's (8) surfaces transfer the rotation force to the jacket (8).<IMAGE>
