To provide a sales counter having glass panes which are pivotable about a horizontal axis and are intended for shielding the counter display space, in the case of which counter the penetration of foreign bodies, breathed air or infected air through the gap remaining between neighbouring panes is largely prevented and at the same time the functioning and handling of the counter is not impaired, it is proposed that inflatable, hollow sealing tubes (9) are fastened to the boundary edges of the glass panes (8) running transversely to the pivot axis, the hollow space of which is connected, when the glass pane (8) is in the closed position, to the device (10) which generates compressed air, the connection being separated when the glass pane (8) is pivoted out of the closed position, and the hollow space being freely connected to the atmosphere. <IMAGE>
