The invention relates to an actuating member for the rotatable spindle of a fitting. In this arrangement, a hand wheel is mounted rotatably on a shell-shaped bottom part that can be mounted on in a manner rotationally fixed to the fitting. Inserted into the housing is a planetary gear mechanism, the sun gear of which is connected rigidly to the hand wheel, the planet wheels meshing in a gear ring inserted into the bottom part of the housing. An indicator indicates the rotational position of the spindle of the fitting. The aim of the invention is to design the indicator in such a way that it is arranged in the interior of the housing of the actuating member, and, in particular, in such a way that, when removing the actuating member, it does not have to be removed from the fitting. According to the invention, the indicator consists of a circular disc which is arranged between the handle and the planet-gear carrier, directly underneath the handle, and is connected to the planet carrier. In the region of the circular disc, the hand wheel has a window-like opening which has a different colour in one part from that in another and is provided with indicating marks.
