The slab-type cover for an access opening has holders (4) on the rear side engaging with other (14) fixed in the opening.The first holders (4) have hook-clasp fasteners (8), between which are seam strips (9), each with a flange (10) extending for part of the thickness of the cover. The second holders (14) have two such fasteners (12), engaging with those on the first one (4) each of which has a sheet-metal component (5) forming a positioning edge (6). The latter extends for at least part of the thickness of the slab, in place of the seam strip at this point. USE/ADVANTAGE - Slab type cover for access opening is firmly secured in place and not liable to corrosion.
