The brake system has spring loaded brake cylinders 20, 20', which can be ventilated from a compressed air source by way of a reversing valve 10 and a control line 13 for the purpose of releasing the brake. An antilock device 27 having at least one sensor 28 is provided. A pressure-voltage transducer 25, which emits a voltage signal when the pressure drops below an adjustable value, is connected to the control line 13 leading from the reversing valve 10 to the spring loaded brake cylinders 20, 20'. An electrically controllable non-return valve 14 fed with compressed air is provided, which in the event of the pressure-voltage transducer 25 responding and the simultaneous occurrence of a deceleration signal due to the antilock device 27, feeds compressed air into the spring loaded brake cylinders 20, 20'.
