The invention relates to a filter having at least one filter cartridge which is inserted into an essentially cylindrical housing and which exhibits a high resistance to flow in a radial direction and a low resistance to flow in an axial direction, the housing having a fluid inlet, a detachable cover for removing the filter cartridge and a central outlet tube flow-connected to the housing interior. In known filters, there is the problem that uniform flow through the filter cartridges is not ensured. According to the invention, a baffle (6) covering the fluid inlet (3) is provided in the housing (1) at a distance to the housing interior wall.
