The invention relates to a method of producing the rolling movement for the manufacture of tooth flanks on bevel gears, in which the tool system, which represents one or more flanks of the imaginary generating bevel gear, is moved around the imaginary generating bevel-gear axis from the initial rolling position into the final rolling position, and the workpiece in the process performs a rotary movement dependent upon this movement. The essence of the invention consists in the fact that the rolling movement between tool system and workpiece about the imaginary generating bevel-gear axis by the rolling angle is produced by two translatory movements which are dependent on one another and run at right angles to one another, during a simultaneous rotary movement of the tool system about the specific reference axis by the rolling angle and a rotary movement of the workpiece about the workpiece axis as a function of the rolling angle and the ratio of the tooth number of the imaginary generating bevel gear to the tooth number of the workpiece. <IMAGE>
