PURPOSE: To absorb effectively exudate from an open wound by providing occlusive lining with hydrophilic and water-absorbing fabric to which an adhesive layer is attached. CONSTITUTION: Wound bandage 10 consists of a fabric layer 11 covering and sticking to an adhesive layer 12 all over one of the broad sides and of an adhesive layer 13 covering all over the other broad side. Adhesive layers 12, 13 mechanically stick to the border of the fibrous part where an adhesive agent projects form the fabric layer 11. Hydrophilic material layer 15 is placed between adhesive layers 12 and 13 as well as in the fabric layer 11. Layer 16 is removed immediately before bandage 10 is applied to the wound. Protective covering layer 17 is placed all over the outside of fabric layer 11, and the covering layer 17 factions as outer protective layer of bandage 10 so that contaminants may not enter the wound. Layer 15 is made of a nontoxic hydrophilic material which can maintain flawlessness even after it has absorbed exudate 2 to 20 times heavier than it is. |
