PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound useful as an intermediate for fluorene phthalide colorless dye readily and in high yield, by reacting a nitrobenzoic acid chloride with a metaphenylenediamine compound as raw materials in the presence of Lewis acid. CONSTITUTION:A nitrobenzoic acid chloride such as paranitrobenzoyl chloride shown by formula I (A is H, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy or nitro) is reacted with a metaphenylenediamine compound such as meta-N,N-diethylaminoacetanilide or meta-N,N-diethylamino-(ptoluenesulfon)anilide shown by formula II (R<1> is acyl or substituted sulfonyl; R<2> and R<3> are alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl or aryl or R<2> and R<3> are bonded to form ring; B=A) in a solventless state or in a solvent such as 1, 2-dichloroethane in the presence of Lewis acid such as AlCl3 to give the aimed compound shown by formula III. |
