1,263,650. Inking apparatus. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBURG A.G. 24 Nov., 1970 [5 Dec., 1969], No. 55922/70. Heading B6C. Inking roller 11 is divided into sections 15-17 by seals 13 which prevent ink from leaking from section to section, each seal consisting of a stationary ring 13 with an opening 20 through which compressed air can be passed into a space 21 between the ring 13 and the roller 11. Preferably each section 15-17 is inked by a separate fountain roller 12, applying different ink from the other fountain rollers 12. The compressed air introduced through the openings 20 may contain lubricating oil, and be at about 0À2 or 0À3 atmosphere pressure. Preferably the rings 13 are inset into recesses in the roller 11, and their side faces, which abut on the sides of the recesses, are ribbed with annular projections, which may have grease pockets between them. The sides of the rings 13 may be held in contact with those of the recesses by springs, or by compressed air, which is applied to slots in the rings 13 to cause them to expand. |
