PURPOSE:To smooth the start of the next welding and to match easily the projecting length of a core wire by feeding backward the core wire upon ending of welding and subjecting the top end of the core wire to a spherical drop treatment. CONSTITUTION:The core wire 3 led out of the tip 3 of a welding torch 2 is fed backward before the spherical drop 5 sticking to the top end of the core wire cools and solidifies upon ending of welding. The spherical drop 5 sticking to the top end of the core wire 4 hooks to the top end of the nozzle and when the core wire 4 is further fed backward, the drop 5 is torn off and at the same time the top end of the core wire 4 is introduced into the tip 3. The core wire 4 is fed forward and again backward after the backward feed and the drop 5 is surely removed. A welding robot is moved to the position where the projecting length of the core wire for the succeeding welding is to be matched. The projecting length of the core wire is matched while the top end of the core wire 4 is introduced into the tip 3 by the backward feed. |
