A low pressure plasma beam torch characterised by a hollow axial electrode withdrawing part of the injected plasma gas from the plasma beam reducing the axial pressure. The gas is removed under the force from a separate venturi chamber under the supplementary plasma gas or metallising powder is injected into the gas flow prior to reintroduction to the plasma jet via an annular orifice axially displaced towards the work piece. The force on the work piece is lowered allowing delicate soldering or melt processes to be operated used for high temp. chemical reactions, besides metallurgy and steel industry.
