PURPOSE:To produce a plate material having a desired unequal thickness in rolling of a band steel by making a material which differs in thickness periodically in the longitudinal direction and shearing the band steel with a shear in accordance with the longitudinal thickness signal. CONSTITUTION:The position of the ram of a hydraulic cylinder provided in the lower part of a rolling mill is changed periodically by using a hydraulic pressure control device in the final pass of, for example, a quadruplex reverse mill, whereby the rolling down force changing periodically is exerted on a material to be rolled and a material having an unequal thickness in the longitudinal direction thereof is formed. The thickness in the longitudinal direction of said material is measured continuously with a thickness gage 7 and the thickness signal thereof is fed to a control part M. The part M drives a shear 8 in accordance with a set value and shears the material, thereby forming the material having an unequal thickness. |
