PURPOSE:To mold the thick member of fiber reinforced plastics of a box shape or a complicated shape with a rib, a boss, etc. without generating defects by using a material obtained by preparatorily molding one part of a structure and compressing and molding a thick structure member made of SMC. CONSTITUTION:The insert 1 of the fiber reinforced plastic member of not less than 5mm. thickness or a not less than 5mm. diameter, thickness thereof is made smaller than the last shape (a section shown in a broken line in the figure) with a section rising vertically from the bottom, such as the rib, the boss, etc. is molded through a conventional SMC molding method. The projection 2 of the insert 1 is inserted into a hole combining positioning and fixing and a cope 3 is set up. A SMC material 5 is charged onto a drag 4 only by a quantity required. Dies are clamped according to the procedure of normal compression and molding, a matrix resin is cured by thermal conduction from the dies 3, 4, the dies are released, and molding is completed. A projection section 2 is cut and removed after mold-releasing. |
