PURPOSE:To set the sensitivity of flaw detection efficiently in a short time, by recording the detection signal and discrimination number of the standard artificial defect of a test pipe for each size and steel kind beforehand on a recording medium, reproducing these signals, and setting the sensitivity of a magnetic flaw detector. CONSTITUTION:The standard artificial defect of a long-sized test pipe which is prepared for each size and steel kind is detected and the detection signal thereof is amplified and is then inputted to a sensitivity regulator 11, by which the signal is set at the signal of a specified size. This signal is recorded in a recording medium 15 with a switch 12 and a recording and reproducing device 14. At the same time, the discrimination number of the long sized test pipe is recorded as well by a number setter 17. The discrimination number from the size and steel kind with respect to an actual material to be examined is inputted in a retrieval device 16, and the record on the medium 15 is retrieved. A switch 13 is then changed over to the device 14 side. The standard artificial defect signal recorded on the medium 15 is thereafter reproduced and the sensitivity of the regulator 11 is set. |
