PURPOSE:To reduce the load on an immobilized biocatalyst in steps and to facilitate the exchange of a rotary drum, etc., by dividing the space in a closed horizontal cylindrical tank into plural reaction chambers, providing each chamber with a rotary drum for holding an immobilized biocatalyst and connecting the rotary shafts of the rotary drums on the bearings. CONSTITUTION:A lid 2 is opened, an immobilized biocatalyst is filled in perforated rotary drums 15, 15, 15 supported by a rotary shaft 11 and placed in each reaction chamber 8, 8, 8 and the reactor tank 1 is closed with the lid 2. Water maintained at a constant temperature is circulated through a jacket 16. A pH- adjusting liquid, a substrate and a gas are introduced through a chemical introducing port 3, a substrate introducing port 4 and a gas inlet port 5, respectively, and the drums 15, 15, 15 are rotated. The substrate overflowed over the overflow ports 14, 14' for the reaction liquid is passed through the reaction chamber 8 and the product having the target concentration is overflowed over a product overflow ports 18, 18'.
