An electrophotographic photosensitive material is disclosed, wherein the electrophotographic photosensitive material comprises a photosensitive layer containing at least one hydrazone compound selected from the group consisting of compounds having the general formulae (I) and (II): <IMAGE> (I) wherein R1 is a hydrogen or halogen atom or an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, a nitro group, an acyl group or an amino group and R2 and R3 each represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group; <IMAGE> (II) wherein R4 and R5 each represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, or a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group and X is a group of the formula <IMAGE> +TR <IMAGE> in which R6 to R18 each represents a hydrogen or halogen atom or a hydroxy group, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an allyl group, an acyl group, an acyloxy group, an alkoxycarbonyl group, an aryl group, a cyano group, a nitro group, an amino group, an alkylamino group or an arylamino group and n is an integer of 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5.
