MAGNETO-OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM CORROSION-RESISTANT UNDER HUMID ATMOSPHERE

PURPOSE: To improve corrosion resistance in a wet atmosphere and to prevent deterioration in a dielectric layer and a magento-optical recording layer by forming a silicon oxide protective layer of specified thickness to cover an aluminum nitride dielectric layer of a magneto-optical recording medium. CONSTITUTION: The magneto-optical recording medium MMOI consists of a substrate SUBSI, a magneto-optical recording layer CMOI, an aluminum nitride dielectric layer DIELI and a silicon oxide protective layer CPI having 200 to 600Åthickness e3 which covers the aluminum dielectric layer DIELI. By this constitution, the magneto-optical recording medium MMOI is protected from corrosion in a wet atmosphere, and deterioration in the aluminum nitride dielectric layer DIELI and in the magneto-optical recording layer CMOI can be prevented.
