[Also in Division B2] A linear, curable organopolysiloxane having either terminal hydroxyl groups or groups hydrolysable by ambient moisture and at least one polymeric organic side chain, each side chain being connected to a silicon atom in the organopolysiloxane through a carbon-carbon bond is dissolved in an inert liquid to form a composition imparting release properties to paper. The organopolysiloxane may be represented by the formula HO-Y-H where Y is a substantially linear organo polysiloxane chain of (x-y-) units of the formula together with y units of the formula in which R and R<SP>1</SP>, which may be the same or different, are organic groups containing from 1 to 18 carbon atoms, R<SP>2</SP> is a polymeric organo group, x is an integer from 2 to 1000 and y is an integer from 1 to 100. In Example 1 styrene and butylacrylate are grafted on to a hydroxylterminated polysiloxane, and in subsequent examples a hydroxyl-terminated polydimethyl siloxane has grafted on to it, in Example 2, butylacrylate, in Example 3, ethylacrylate, in Example 4, styrene, in Examples 5 and 6, styrene and butylacrylate, in Example 7, stearyl methacrylate, in Example 8, vinyl chloride, in Example 9, ethylacrylate and vinylidene chloride and in Example 10, butylacrylate and acrylonitrile.</p> |
