The device is retro-fitted to a manually operated sliding drawer type dispenser of a measured quantity of a powdered or granular material. The device is made up of a shaft (1) attached to the dispenser drawer, the shaft being pushed by a lever (3) coupled to a shaft (5) which is set in rotary motion when the gear (10) fixed to the latter shaft is driven. The gear is driven by the toothed part of a gear (11) which has the greater part of its periphery smooth but has small segments of teeth at regular intervals round the periphery. When the shaft is not driven it returns to a rest position determined by a stop (7). The mechanism is driven by an electric motor which may be activated by a coin operated switch. USE/ADVANTAGE - Allows conversion to coin operation of manually operated dispenser for powdered or granulated items e.g. coffee, sugar, corn or peanuts.
