The system for combatting forest fires consists of water-filled tanks (1) which are stored on helicopter landing pads at strategic points within the forest zone. The tanks are delivered by truck to the landing pads and are replaced each time they are emptied. The tanks can be picked up individually by helocopters when required for use, slung beneath its belly between its undercarriage struts, on a frame hooked to pivot lugs (2) on each side of the tank, and a winch and cable (5,6) to lift the lid (10) of the container and tip the water inside the tank directly onto the fire. ADVANTAGE - Higher efficiency, with water stocks close to fire-risk zones.
