<p>PURPOSE:To certainly detect a liquid, by a method wherein two optical fibers are arranged in a detection frame body, which is eroded and dissolved by a liquid, so that the leading ends thereof are opposed to each other on the same optical axis and separated when the detection frame body is eroded and dissolved. CONSTITUTION:A detection frame body 1 consists of detection plates 3, 3 composed of a thermoplastic resin, which is dissolved in an org. solvent, arranged in opposed relationship and the detection pieces 4, 4 made of a thermoplastic resin connecting the side surfaces of the detection plates 3, 3. Notches 5, 5 each of which is opened at one end thereof and reaches the center part thereof, for engaging optical fibers 2, 2 are provided to the plates 3, 3 and the detection pieces 4 are not provided to the opening side surfaces of the notches 5, 5 of the plates 3, 3 so as to make it possible to engage the optical fibers 2, 2 with said notches 5, 5. The leading end parts of the optical fibers 2, 2 are received in ferrules 6, 6 and the leading end surfaces 2a, 2a thereof are exposed. When the detection pieces 4, 4 or plates 3, 3 are eroded and dissolved upon the contact with a liquid, the leading end surfaces 2a, 2a of the optical fibers 2, 2 are separated in the engaging hole 11 of a cylindrical sleeve 10 by coil springs 13, 13 and the fine diameter shaft parts 8, 8 of the ferrules 6, 6 are drawn out of the engaging hole 11 and a light signal is attenuated.</p> |
