The curtain is held on a horizontal rod which is mounted on a vertical hollow pole (3). This is metallic and oval in section. It is slit along its length (12) and the rod slides along it. The rod is fixed to a nut (17) to which the ends (18) of a cord (9) are attached. The pole is held between the floor and the ceiling by supports (7, 8) with spherical cavities in which knuckle ends (15) can pivot. One end (14) of the pole is telescopic and is extended, to press against the ceiling, by a compression spring (16). USE/ADVANTAGE - For supporting a curtain or a blind and it doesn't have to be fixed to a vertical wall.
