PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound material having improved strength by molding tows of carbon fibers derived from pitch multidimensionally, impregnating carbonaceous pitch into the molded tows, and carbonizing after repeating infusibilization/cooling cycle, then carbonizing or graphitizing after impregnating the carbonaceous pitch again into generated voids. CONSTITUTION:A molded body of fiber is produced by molding tows of carbon fiber derived from pitch two- or three-dimensionally, and carbonaceous pitch is impregnated into the obtd. molded body. The impregnated product is then subjected to infusibilization, then cooled to <=100 deg.C at >=50 deg.C/min cooling rate after subjecting the product to infusibilization. The cycle of infusibilization/ cooling is repeated at least twice. The product is carbonized and then cooled and impregnated again with carbonaceous pitch in the generated voids, then, the impregnated product is carbonized or graphitized to obtain the matrix. By this process, a carbon/carbon compound material having improved strength and contg. no foams in the matrix is obtd. |
